The loaf you'll bake every weekend once you try it. Crusty outside, pillowy within.
Servings
1
Ingredients
- 2 thick slices of sourdough bread
- 60g unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
- 1 small garlic clove, grated
- Flaky sea salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
Method
- 1
Mix the softened butter with the herbs, garlic, a pinch of salt, and black pepper until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning.
- 2
Heat a griddle pan or heavy skillet over high heat until very hot.
- 3
Brush one side of each bread slice generously with the herb butter.
- 4
Place butter-side down on the hot pan. Cook for 2–3 minutes until deeply golden and crisp with char marks.
- 5
Spread the remaining herb butter on the top side while the bread is still hot. Serve immediately.
